Carlisle Registry Emotional Wedding

Carlisle Venues, Wedding Photography

The registry office in Carlisle at Lady Gillford’s House is so unlike any other registry office that I’ve been in, it’s full of character and charm and was ideal for the intimate venue that Gordon and Gill were looking for, to have their wedding.

Just after a few spots of rain, I arrived at Gill’s house on the wedding day.  A May 4th (Force) wedding but this time unlike some previous ones I have photographed there was no connection with Star Wars.  At first glance, I could see that things were not going as well as she hoped, She wasn’t there!  All the girl’s preparations were taking longer than had been expected and they were on the verge of running late.  A few minutes later a car sped up the street and out jumped Gill and some of the bridesmaids.  Thankfully a quick change into dresses meant that plans were back on track.

After taking some photos of Gill and the girls in and around the house, I rushed across town to Carlisle Registry Office where Gordon was waiting with some of the lads. Nerves were running high, which is very usual for grooms prior to a wedding.  Photos of Gordon and the guests taken I went down to the old door to the registry office, where the bridal cars arrived.

Gill got out of the car and I did some bridal portrait photographs, the wind was a bit of nuisance as it was blowing enough to keep the rain away, but meaning that her hair was moving.  Once inside the ceremony was beautiful with a number of tears shed by many that witnessed it.

Outside again, we didn’t stay at the registry office very long as the wind was making the day a bit chilly so after a quick few photos we set off for the Shepherds Inn.  Having been involved with many events and weddings at the Shepherds Inn I know that the food is always very good and that it is a really good place for large numbers.  Just as well with the many friends that were coming to join Gill and Gordon for the evening event.

The Shepherds Inn was a great venue and I managed to get family and friends outside before we all sat down to listen to some very beautiful words of love in the speeches.  All in all a fantastic day.
